Kingham Plough - Emily Watkins

In June we were delighted to showcase Emily Watkins and the Kingham Plough. Although technically not a 'producer' as such, the Kingham Plough follows the same ethos as Richinflavour 'to celebrate local produce', and in using a large selection of locally sourced food, Emily and her team create dishes that can only be described as local products. Emily's ridiculously tasty ice cream for instance, uses milk from Nells Dairy's herd of organic Guernsey cows, only a stone's throw away from the Kingham Plough.

We asked Emily a few questions about what's happening at the Kingham Plough.

In three words describe your business
Delicious, relaxed, energetic

What do you love most about the Cotswolds?
It has amazing produce and is totally beautiful – my commute to work is across two stunning valleys

What/who inspired you to start up your business?
Greed! And wanting to create and informal dining experience

What's your favourite dish on your menu?
The cherry and dark chocolate arctic roll!

How do you go about sourcing your ingredients?

Talking to people – farmers, producers... all kinds

What's your top kitchen tip?
Have a temperature probe – the only way to check if your meat or fish are perfectly cooked

When you're not creating delicious menus what do you like to get up to?
Being with my family – I have three small children

What's been your favourite food/drink experience in the Cotswolds?
The Cheltenham Food Festival – a really great experience every year

Who would be your ideal four dinner guests?
My husband and best friends

What exciting things do you have planned for this year for your business?
To keep doing what we do best – cooking from the heart and serving with a smile
